Improvements on Slope Diffraction for Multiple Wedges
(Taylor & Francis inc, 2010) Tabakcioglu, Mehmet Baris; Kara, Ali; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; 15. Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences; 01. Atılım University
This article proposes an improved slope uniform theory of diffraction model for fast and more accurate field prediction for multiple wedge diffractions in the transition zone. The proposed method is based on the slope uniform theory of diffraction and the Fresnel zone concept, called the slope uniform theory of diffraction with convex hull. The article also provides simulation results for the comparison of the uniform theory of diffraction based algorithms with respect to the computation time and accuracy.

A Study for Development of Propagation Model Based on Ray Tracing for Coverage Prediction in Terrestrial Broadcasting Systems
(Ieee, 2009) Tabakcioglu, Mehmet Baris; Ozmen, Ahmet; Kara, Ali; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; 15. Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences; 01. Atılım University
In this work, improvements on propagation prediction models based on ray tracing in coverage estimation for digital broadcasting systems are presented. For this purpose, firstly propagation models based on Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (GTD) are discussed, and then an improved model is proposed for prediction of propagation path loss or electric field strength at the receiver. The proposed model incorporates first order expansion of classical GTD in field computation and convex hull for ray tracing. Simulation results are presented for comparison of various models in terms of computation time and accuracy.
