Conference Object Citation Count: 1Artificial agent society simulations in an encounter-based normative action environment(2007) Kiliç,H.The purpose of the study is to investigate potential relationship between agents' socialness and society's behavior predictability in an encounter-based normative action environment. For this purpose, we proposed a hypothesis and tested it against different simulation setups in the context of classical single source shortest path problem. By the end of simulations, it is observed that the hypothesis holds for both norm internalization and spreading measures when the agents in society have some degree of autonomy. That means for our setup, we conclude that lower degree of socialness results in lower behavioral predictability of the society when the agents have some degree of autonomy. ©2007 IEEE.Conference Object Citation Count: 1Artificial agent society simulations in an encounter-based normative action environment(2007) Kiliç,H.The purpose of the study is to investigate potential relationship between agents' socialness and society's behavior predictability in an encounter-based normative action environment. The gaming software what we call F-Actor provides a graphbased discrete virtual control environment on which userdeveloped controller agents reside and act according to their assigned design goals. Runtime performances of userdeveloped controller agent codes are made observable through a graphical user interface. The proposed game can be played by different developers having different level of control and programming knowledge. By playing with FActor, engineers (or students) can make practices on a virtual flow environment and try alternative intelligent control algorithms before their potential implementations on field. © 2008 The University of Wolverhampton.Conference Object Citation Count: 0A local behavior identification algorithm for generative network automata configurations(2011) Özdemir, Büşra; Kiliç,H.; Department of BusinessRelation between the part and the whole is investigated in the context of complex discrete dynamical systems. For that purpose, an algorithm for local behavior identification from global data described as Generative Network Automata model configurations is developed. It is shown that one can devise a procedure to simulate finite GNA configurations via Automata Networks having static rule-space setting. In practice, the algorithm provides an automated approach to model construction and it can suitably be used in GNA based system modeling effort. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.Conference Object Citation Count: 0On the power consumption of digital computing systems;(2005) Kılıç, Hürevren; Computer EngineeringIn this paper, the predictability of power consumption of digital computing systems is investigated by using the abstract Turing machine model which is known to be a universal computer. An upper bound for power consumption of such machine model is defined. Also, a polynomial-time algorithm that can automatically produce a two-tape Turing machine which can record power consumption of an arbitrarily given standart Turing machine, is developed. ©2005 IEEE.Conference Object Citation Count: 0Peer-Con: A process contracting overlay(2008) Çelebi, Remzi; Kiliç,H.; Computer EngineeringA peer to peer process contracting overlay what we call Peer-Con is developed. The system is an extension of Java Agent Development Framework (JADE) and uses IEEE Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) Agent Communication Language (ACL) standard. Cost aware flexible representation of process capabilities; description of an operator to decide on whether given capabilities turnout to an agreement or not and self organization of peer connectivity for better contracting performance are distinguishing features of the system. The system can easily be adapted to different domains while the core functionality remains the same. Practical use of Peer-Con is shown by an application from Digital Signal Processing Module (DSPM) product planning domain. © 2008 IEEE.Article Citation Count: 0Post-Pandemic Hybrid Curriculum Recommendations for an Undergraduate ICT Senior Project Course(Tempus Publications, 2023) Tirkeş,G.; Kalem,G.; Kiliç,H.; Cagiltay,N.E.Among the numerous aspects of everyday life affected by the COV1D-19 pandemic, education stands out as one of those deeply impacted. In this context within university settings, the ICT senior project courses were no exception either. This study presents the recommendations for a hybrid curriculum based on the online implementation of a, senior project course in the ICT departments of an engineering faculty. The data were collected to better understand the impact of this restructured course on 99 undergraduate IT students and their projects during three semesters, and later analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively to obtain some insights. The results indicate that, during the pandemic, the students adapted their senior project studies to the related restrictions by changing certain aspects related to the project, improving their teamwork, and increasing the level of communication. However, they also reported certain problems related to their overall psychology as well as social interactions. In light of the pandemic effect on the software industry towards remote working environments, further suggestions are provided to eliminate the drawbacks of remote working reported by the students and to equip them with the necessary skills. The resulting recommendations could be used by other highereducation institutions and be further adjusted for application in other disciplines. © 2023 TEMPUS Publications.Article Citation Count: 0Some intrinsic properties of interacting deterministic finite automata(2003) Kiliç,H.The agent controllability of the environment is investigated using simple deterministic interacting automata pair model. For this purpose, a general extended design approach for such couple is developed. In the experiments, we focused on simple binary state case and generated stability/cycle behavior characteristics map for the couple. Examinations on the map showed that the behavior of the couple shows some initial value sensitivity. Also, we observed some non-controllable agent/environment couple definition which may imply an inherent communication border between agent and the environment. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.Conference Object Citation Count: 0Weak measurement theory and Modified Cognitive Complexity Measure(2007) Misra,S.; Kiliç,H.Measurement is one of the problems in the area of software engineering. Since traditional measurement theory has a major problem in defining empirical observations on software entities in terms of their measured quantities, Morasca has tried to solve this problem by proposing Weak Measurement theory. In this paper, we tried to evaluate the applicability of weak measurement theory by applying it on a newly proposed Modified Cognitive Complexity Measure (MCCM). We also investigated the applicability of Weak Extensive Structure for deciding on the type of scale for MCCM. It is observed that the MCCM is on weak ratio scale.
