The graduate programs offered by our department includes a master program and a PhD program in Political Science and Public Administration. Master program includes thesis and non-thesis options. The overall aim of our graduate programs is to prepare students for specialization in Political Science and Public Administration. The curricula of our programs are carefully designed to achieve this aim. All programs offered by our department are supported by our highly qualified departmental faculty members. Our master programs provide students with both practical skills and sound theoretical knowledge. They also provide students with good understanding of Turkish and World politics and administration. While the non-thesis studens will conduct a project, the thesis students will conduct a larger research and write a thesis. Our PhD program prepares students for academic careers in political science and public administration. The program is designed to provide students with substantive theoretical knowledge and research skills. It helps students to develop analytical skills and critical thinking. It also helps students to specialize in at least one sub-field of political science and public administration and to produce not only a PhD thesis but also scholarly articles and books.

Abstract

Osmanlı Devleti'nin Sened-i İttifak ile başlayan batılılaşma hareketi, özellikle 1839 Tanzimat Fermanı ile hız kazanan ve 1923 Cumhuriyetin İlanı ile devam eden Batılılaşma, paralelinde gelişen laiklik; Türkiye'nin çoğu kurum ve kuruluşunu doğrudan etkisi altına almıştır. Türkiye Anayasasına baktığımızda ise 1937'de laiklikten bahsedildiğini görmek mümkün. Bu tarihten sonra ve günümüze kadar devam eden süreçte laiklik toplumda sürekli tartışılır hale gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada öncelikle laiklik kavramı, tarihsel gelişimi ile ele alınacaktır. Ardından ülkemizde laikliğin nasıl bir süreçten geçtiği incelenecektir. Toplum nezdinde tartışılan laikliği Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisinde milletvekilleri arasında da görmekteyiz. Hazırlamış olduğumuz bu çalışmada 27. dönem milletvekillerin laiklik algısını, bu konu hakkında tutum ve düşüncelerini, laiklik hakkında beklentilerini anket yöntemi yardımıyla açığa çıkarmaya çalışılmıştır.
The westernization movement of the Ottoman Empire, which started in 1808, accelerated especially with the 1839 Tanzimat Edict and continued with the 1923 Declaration of the Republic, secularism that developed in parallel; Turkey has taken many institutions and organizations under the direct influence. When we look at Turkey's Constitutional able to see that secularism mentioned in 1937. After this date and in the process to the present, secularism has become a constant debate in society. In this study, firstly the concept of secularism will be discussed with its historical development. Then we will examine the process of secularism in our country. We also see that secularism in society discussed among lawmakers in Turkey Grand National Assembly. In this study, we aimed to reveal the perception of secularism, feelings and thoughts about this issue and expectations about secularism as a result of an applied study in accordance with sociological elements.
