Abstract
The ongoing development of technology has brought innovation and creativity to various industries. One of the most significant sectors, the finance industry, has also been positively influenced by these advancements. However, decentralized finance, emerging as a comprehensive system, has become a subject of academic research and numerous discussions in terms of being an alternative or a threat to traditional finance. At the core of decentralized finance are blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies, which offer advantages and disadvantages compared to the traditional financial system. The aim of this study is to explore the similarities and differences between decentralized finance and traditional finance, focusing on the five fundamental elements of the financial system (fund suppliers, fund demanders, regulators and auditors, investment instruments, financial intermediaries). The research investigates the perspectives, evaluations, and attitudes of market actors towards these two systems. The interview technique was employed in this research, where 6 market professionals were asked 15 questions, and the results were derived based on the responses. The intention is to contribute to the literature by addressing the lack of a study that aligns with the expectations and approaches of market actors regarding the comparison of decentralized finance and traditional finance.
