We are a department that has been active for 22 years with the goal to determine the structural changes in economy and the problems of general business administration, to develop problem solving skills and to devise modelling techniques that fit our aims. Among our cornerstones are to graduate more students into administrative positions of our institutions, to help them realize their inner potential to be go-getters, to prepare them for the entrance exams for high-tier, well-respected public positions, and to help them participate graduate and doctorate degree programs at ease, nationally or internationally. In this regard, our course curriculum is constantly subject to updates. In addition, we do all in our power to graduate students that stand out, with double-major program opportunities. We make an effort to aid our students in kick-starting their professional life after completing a period of one semester at Private - Public institutions within the framework of our Cooperative Education Program.

Abstract

Sektöründe öncü, kurumsal, küresel pazardan pay alan ve işletme sürekliliği bulunan her şirketin kurumsal yönetim ilkelerine sahip olması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, kurumsal yönetim ilkelerine sahip olan ve BIST Kurumsal Yönetim Endeksinde (XKURY) yer alan firmaların mali performanslarıyla kurumsal yönetim notları arasında herhangi ilişkinin olup olmadığının tespitidir. Bu tezde BIST100'de yer alan 25 şirketin 6 finansal performans ölçütü, şirketlerin kurumsal yönetim ilkeleri puanları ile TOPSIS yöntemi kullanılarak karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışma 2020-2021 ve 2022 yıllarını kapsamaktadır. Çalışmanın sonucunda şirketlerin 3 yıllık finansal performansları ile kurumsal yönetişim notları arasında doğrudan bir bağlantı kurulamamış olup, TOPSIS yöntemine göre ölçülen finansal performansı en yüksek olan şirketlerin, çoğu zaman en yüksek kurumsal yönetim puanını elde edemedikleri gözlemlenmiştir.
Every company that is a pioneer in its sector, corporate, taking a share from the global market and having business continuity should have corporate governance principles. The aim of this study is to determine whether there is any relationship between the financial performances of companies that have corporate governance principles and are included in the BIST Corporate Governance Index (XKURY) and their corporate governance ratings. In this thesis, 6 financial performance criteria of 25 companies in BIST100 were compared with corporate governance principles scores of companies using TOPSIS method. The study covers the years 2020-2021 and 2022. As a result of the study, a direct relationship could not be established between the 3- year financial performances of the companies and their corporate governance grades, and it was observed that the companies with the highest financial performance measured according to the TOPSIS method could not achieve the highest corporate governance score most of the time.
