Abstract
This study aims to reveal the factors that affect the job satisfaction of academicians working in Turkey and thus their intention to leave their institution in the short, medium and long term. For this purpose, a questionnaire was sent to 24.181 academicians working at universities in various regions of Turkey via e-mail within a three-month period between January 2019 and March 2019. The population of the study consisted of academicians working in Turkey, and a questionnaire was sent to selected university institutions in all regions which resulted in a working sample of 748 people. The results of the empirical study indicate that for the Turkish academicians in the sample, the intention to leave the institution in the short, medium and long term is affected by gender, the number of children, marital status, work residence, university type, title, income, work satisfaction, organizational commitment and stress. The Academic Mobility Study survey conducted in this thesis thus provides insights into the reasons behind the intention to leave the institution for the sample of 748 academics who participated in the study.
