Abstract
The question of China's presence in the American threat matrix is relevant to the bilateral relationship of the United States of America and the People's Republic of China, which is judged by some scholars to be most important bilateral relationship between any two countries in the 21st century in relation to their status as the most powerful two great powers in the world. China and America's relationship has been explored in many academic works in previous decades and the economic, military and political aspects of this relationship require further academic research to facilitate the preservation of peace between the two countries and to provide further understanding of the views of each side in the relationship. The lack of unbiased sources from within the People's Republic of China necessitates reliance on sources from the United States side of the relationship and inferences from Chinese announcements to their population and in diplomatic statements. As such, the research primarily consists of qualitative analysis and the historical analysis method on sources from the American side of the relationship, along with case studies on specific incidents within the bilateral relationship. China appears to have become the greatest threat on the United States threat matrix in the aftermath of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, with increasing economic, political and military power as well as statements form American officials implying China as the number one rival.
