The graduate programs offered by our department includes a master program and a PhD program in Political Science and Public Administration. Master program includes thesis and non-thesis options. The overall aim of our graduate programs is to prepare students for specialization in Political Science and Public Administration. The curricula of our programs are carefully designed to achieve this aim. All programs offered by our department are supported by our highly qualified departmental faculty members. Our master programs provide students with both practical skills and sound theoretical knowledge. They also provide students with good understanding of Turkish and World politics and administration. While the non-thesis studens will conduct a project, the thesis students will conduct a larger research and write a thesis. Our PhD program prepares students for academic careers in political science and public administration. The program is designed to provide students with substantive theoretical knowledge and research skills. It helps students to develop analytical skills and critical thinking. It also helps students to specialize in at least one sub-field of political science and public administration and to produce not only a PhD thesis but also scholarly articles and books.

Abstract

Türkiye-Avrupa Birliği ilişkilerinde, 1999 Helsinki ve Avrupa Birliği hedefinin olabilirliğini ve böylece inandırıcılığını arttıran 2002 Kopenhag zirveleri, Türkiye'nin demokratikleşmesi sürecinde çok önemli dönüm noktaları olmuştur. Türkiye'nin demokratikleşme çabalarını bu dönüm noktalarından alarak AB üyeliği sürecinde ne gibi aşamaların kat edildiği, siyasi erkin dışsal eşgüdümle içsel değişimleri ne ölçüde gerçekleştirdiği ve yaşama sunduğu, Türkiye'nin siyasi yapısında ne gibi bir değişim ve dönüşümün gerçekleştirildiği incelenmiştir. Bu değişim ve dönüşüm çabaları incelenirken bir yandan siyasi erkin bu değişim ve dönüşüm yönünde ne ölçüde kararlı olduğu, diğer yandan ise çeşitli siyasal ve toplumsal grupların bu değişim ve dönüşüme verdikleri tepki dikkate alınarak ve bu çerçevede değişim ve dönüşümün hangi toplumsal-siyasal gruplar tarafından ne ölçüde desteklendiği ve ne ölçüde muhalefet edilerek itirazlar yükseltildiği ortaya konulmuştur.Çalışmanın sonucu olarak Türkiye' de 1999 sonrası gerçekleştirilen demokratikleşme çabalarının neler olduğu ve bu çabaların, ortaya konulan teorilerle ne ölçüde bağdaştığı irdelenerek siyasal sisteme yansımaları değerlendirilmiştir.
In Turkey-European Union relationships, 1999 Helsinki and 2002 Copenhagen summits, which increased the feasibility and therefore credibility of European Union goal, constituted significant turning points in the demicratization process of Turkey. The stopes of Turkey has progressed through, having started grow these points, throughout the EU membership process and to what extent the political authority has achieved and implemented domestic changes with external coordination have been studied. While these changes and transformations are studied, also presented are how determined the political authority is as regards these changes and transformations as well as the reactions that various political and social groups give to these changes and transformations, to what extent these changes and transformations are supported by which political social groups and the objections raised by them.As a conclusion of the study, the demicratization efforts made in Turkey after 1999 and to what extent they are linked with the theories presented have been examined, assessing their reflections on the political system.
