The Department of Fine Arts and Elective Courses was founded under the School of Fine Arts Design and Architecture in 2016. Within the field of Fine Arts, and during our elective courses offered in English and Turkish for the undergraduate students of our University, our students learn about topics such as art history, art criticism, the relationship between art and society, cultural heritages and their protection, museums and museum studies. We contribute to the self and artistic improvement of our students through practice courses in the fields of music, theater, film, photography, dance, art, comics, statues, tile-glazing, mosaics, ceramics, elocution, rhetoric, sign language and digital art. We aim our students to gain the skills of the 21st century such as entrepreneurship, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, correct self-expression, flexibility, harmony, media and technology, self-guidance, responsibility, social and intercultural communication; through art. The courses of Theater for Entrepreneurship Skills and Creativity in Professional Life are offered in English, and are within the scope of non-elective Entrepreneurship courses.

Viyana kafe kültürünün oluşumunda Thonet No:14'ün etkisinin araştırıldığı bu tezde; Endüstriyel Devrim ile ortaya çıkan yeni toplumsal hareketler, Viyana kafe kültürünün kahve ile olan bağı ve Thonet No: 14'ün kafe kültürüne etkileri detaylı olarak irdelenmiştir. Çalışmada aynı zamanda kahvenin keşfi ile başlayan ve kahvehanelerin ortaya çıkışı ile devam eden süreçte, Endüstri Devrimi'nin getirdiği yeni üretim ve ticaret olanaklarının ticaret ve toplumsal yaşama etkileri üzerinde durulmuştur. Sanat ve düşünce akımlarının kafe ve kahvehanelere yansımalarının incelendiği araştırmada mekân tasarımları da gözden geçirilerek, Thonet No:14'ün doğuşu, gelişimi ve etkisi detaylarıyla anlatılmıştır. Araştırma sahası; 1860-1930 yılları arasında Viyana ve dünyada iç mekân görseli ve yerleşim planlarına ulaşılabilen, Thonet No:14 ile tasarlanmış kafe ve kahvehanelerin mekân analizleri yapılmıştır. Bununla birlikte günümüzdeki yansımasını izleyebilmek için TON firmasının referanslarından yola çıkarak Thonet No:14 kullanılan Viyana tarzı kafelerin mekân analizleri ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Mekân yerleşim planları, tarihi fotoğrafları ve güncel durumlarını kapsayan çalışmada Thonet No.14'ün Viyana kafe kültürü oluşumdaki etkisi aranmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, Thonet No:14 sandalyenin nitelikleri, tercih edilmesindeki etkenleri, Viyana kafe kültüründeki konumu ve bu kültüre iletişim nesnesi olarak katkıları aktarılmıştır.
In this thesis, the effect of Thonet No: 14 on the formation of Vienna cafe culture is investigated; The new social movements that emerged with the Industrial Revolution, the connection between the Vienna cafe culture and coffee and the effects of Thonet No: 14 on the cafe culture were examined in detail. The study also focused on the effects of new production and trade opportunities brought by the Industrial Revolution on trade and social life in the process that started with the discovery of coffee and continued with the emergence of coffee houses. In the research, in which the reflections of art and thought movements on cafes and coffee houses were examined, the design of the space was also reviewed, and the birth, development and impact of Thonet No:14 were explained in detail. Research area; Between 1860 and 1930, space analyzes of cafes and coffee houses designed with Thonet No:14, where interior visuals and layouts can be accessed in Vienna and the world, were made. However, in order to follow its current reflection, it has been limited to the space analysis of Vienna-style cafes using Thonet No: 14, based on the references of TON company. The effect of Thonet No.14 on the formation of Viennese cafe culture has been sought in the study, which includes the layout plans, historical photographs and current situations of the spaces. As a result of the research, the qualities of the Thonet No:14 chair, the factors in its preference, its position in the Vienna cafe culture and its contributions to this culture as an object of communication are explained.
