The Department of Public Relations and Advertising started its 4-year undergraduate degree program in 2000 under the School of Business. The Department of Public Relations and Advertising offers a program that stresses the skill of analytical thinking for students. The program is based on academic standpoints and supported by practices and new technologies. The department offers the opportunity to take elective courses from its own curriculum, or from other departments, in addition to theoretical and practical courses that complement each other. With a program offered in English, the Department of Public Relations and Advertising has mutual contracts with universities from Spain, the Netherlands and Finland within the scope of the “Erasmus Exchange Program”. In addition, the graduate degree program of “Public Relations and Advertising” under the Graduate School of social Sciences aims to sustain the continuity of undergraduate-level education and training, and to meet the demands of those pursuing to advance academically.

Abstract

Küresel iklim krizi günümüzün en büyük sorunlarından biri olmaktadır. Bu krizin çözümleri, dünyanın işleyiş sisteminden dolayı politika yapıcıların himayesinde halledileceği öngörülmektedir. Bu sebeple her yıl G-7 zirvesi öncesinde gerçekleştirilen protestolar, protestocular tarafından zirvenin gerçekleşeceği yer başta olmak üzere, zirveyi ve G-7 liderlerini iklim krizinin önlenebilmesi adına yapılması gereken faaliyetleri yetkililere ileterek, adeta bir panayır havasında geçen protestolar gerçekleştirmektedirler. Bu çevreci protestoların ekonomik ve siyasi bir grup olan G-7 liderlerini hedef alması, iklim krizine sebep olanların yine onlar olduğu düşünülmesindendir. Çevreci hareketlerin toplumlarda yer edinmesi ve çevre duyarlılığı bilincinin gelişmesi toplumsal hareketlerin evrimiyle doğrudan ilintilidir. Toplumsal hareketlerde gerçekleşen kırılmalar ve yaşanan olaylarla birlikte toplumlar en nihayet çevre farkındalığını oluşturabilmişlerdir. Bu sebeple yaşanan sürecin anlaşılması açısından toplumsal hareketlerin dönüşümü anlatılarak çevreci hareketlerin toplumlarda hangi süreçlerden sonra yer bulduğu aktarılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, küresel iklim krizi protestolarının, G-7 zirvesinde yer alıp almadığına değinilerek protestocuların üzerine durdukları konu ve sorunların çözümlenip çözümlenmediği incelenmiştir. Bu protestolara, internet haber kanalları aracılığıyla erişilmiştir. Çalışmada 30 protesto incelenmiş olup bu protestoların G-7 zirvesi sonrası sunulan zirve bildirgelerinde yer alıp almadığı sorgulanmış ve protestolarla karşılaştırılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular, örgütlenmenin protesto kültürü ve kamuoyunu etkileme açısından önemli olduğunu, yetkililerin G-7 iklim krizi sorunun çözümlerine yönelik manipülatif ifadeler kullandıklarını göstermektedir.
The global climate crisis is becoming one of the biggest problems of our time. It is envisaged that the solutions to this crisis will be solved under the auspices of policymakers due to the functioning system of the world. For this reason, the protests held every year before the G-7 summit are carried out by the protesters in the atmosphere of a fair, especially where the summit will take place, by conveying the summit and the G-7 leaders to the authorities about the activities that need to be done to prevent the climate crisis. The fact that these environmental protests target the leaders of the G-7, an economic and political group, is because they are thought to be the ones who caused the climate crisis. The emergence of environmental movements in societies and the development of environmental awareness are directly related to the evolution of social movements. With the breaks and events that took place in social movements, societies were finally able to create environmental awareness. For this reason, in order to understand the process, the transformation of social movements is explained and the processes after which environmentalist movements find a place in societies are conveyed. In this study, it is examined whether the global climate crisis protests took place in the G-7 summit and whether the issues and problems that the protesters focus on are solved. These protests were reached through internet news channels. In the study, 30 protests were examined and whether these protests were included in the summit declarations presented after the G-7 summit was questioned and analyzed by comparing them with the protests. The findings show that organization is important in terms of influencing protest culture and public opinion, and that officials use manipulative expressions aimed at solving the G-7 climate crisis problem.
