Kentte Meydanın Rolü: Ankara-kızılay Meydanı

Abstract

Meydanlar, kentin toplanma, buluşma gibi sosyal anlamda birliktelik ve bütünlük duygusunun yaşandığı, kentin kimliğinin yansıdığı fiziksel mekanlardır. Ayrıca, kentle olan ilişkinin deneyimlendiği ve kullanıcıların gereksinimleri doğrultusunda işlevler yüklenen alanlardır. Çalışmada, meydan olgusunu ve kentle olan ilişkisini anlamak için meydanın tarihsel gelişimi ve biçimsel ve işlevsel özellikleri incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda, çalışma alanı olarak belirlenen Kızılay Meydanı'nın Ankara için önemi, tarihsel süreç içinde geçirdiği dönüşüm, biçimsel ve işlevsel özellikleri ele alınarak anket çalışması ve yerinde gözlem yapılmıştır. Kullanıcıların beklentisi, kent imajı açısından, biçimsel ve işlevsel özellikleri çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir. Meydanların kullanıcı ihtiyacına cevap verebilecek nitelikte olması ve kullanıcı ihtiyacına göre çok yönlü tasarlanması üzerinde durulmuştur. In this study,in order to understand the square phenomenon and its relations with citizens, historical development of the square and formal and functional properties are investigated.In this context,importance of Ankara's Kızılay Square which is identified as a case study, its transformation through historical process, by considering the formal and functional characteristics, the survey and on-site observations are made.Users expectations, in terms of image of the city,has been evaluated in the framework of formal and functional features. Emphasized on,squares quality which could be responsive to citizen's requirements and according to citizen's requirements should be designed as multifunctional.
