The graduate programs offered by our department includes a master program and a PhD program in Political Science and Public Administration. Master program includes thesis and non-thesis options. The overall aim of our graduate programs is to prepare students for specialization in Political Science and Public Administration. The curricula of our programs are carefully designed to achieve this aim. All programs offered by our department are supported by our highly qualified departmental faculty members. Our master programs provide students with both practical skills and sound theoretical knowledge. They also provide students with good understanding of Turkish and World politics and administration. While the non-thesis studens will conduct a project, the thesis students will conduct a larger research and write a thesis. Our PhD program prepares students for academic careers in political science and public administration. The program is designed to provide students with substantive theoretical knowledge and research skills. It helps students to develop analytical skills and critical thinking. It also helps students to specialize in at least one sub-field of political science and public administration and to produce not only a PhD thesis but also scholarly articles and books.

Abstract

Tez çalışmamızda 16. yüzyılda başlayıp 18. yüzyılda artarak devam eden Osmanlı Devleti'ndeki modernleşme hareketleri ve Avrupa'da ortaya çıkan ulusçuluk akımının sonucu ile çok uluslu Osmanlı Devleti'nin içine düştüğü zor durumdan çıkış çabalarını bakıldı. Avrupa'daki gelişmelere paralel olarak; 19. yüzyıldan itibaren Osmanlı Devletindeki fertlerin 'kul'dan 'birey'e ve Osmanlı toplumunun 'tebaa' dan 'millet'e dönüşme sürecinde ortaya çıkan akımlardan yola çıkarak Anadoluculuğun doğuşunu incelemeye çalışıldı. Osmanlıcılık, İslamcılık ve Türkçülük fikir hareketlerini savunan düşünce insanları tarafından ortaya konan vatan, millet, devlet tanımlamaları ve tarih anlayışına bakılmıştır. Bu akımların bir anti sentezi olarak doğan; farklı bir tarih anlayışı ortaya atarak, vatan, millet kavramlarını yeniden tanımlayan, yeni bir milliyetçilik türü olan Anadolu Milliyetçiliği'nin doğuşunu ve 1930'lu yıllara kadar gelişimi incelenmeye çalışılmıştır.
Thesis study, we looked at the multinational effort out of the difficult situation in which the result of the fall of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century in the Ottoman Empire starting in the 18th century increased the ongoing modernization movement in current and emerging nationalism in Europe. Parallel to the developments in Europe; Of individuals in the Ottoman Empire from the 19th century 'servant of the people, and the Ottoman society' vassal 'from nation to transform the process of starting from the resulting current, we tried to examine the emergence of Anadoluculug. Ottomanism, Islamism and Turkism idea put forward by proponents of the idea of people moving country and the nation, we look to the state definition and understanding of history. The synthesis of this nature as an anti stream; posing a different conception of history, patriotism, redefining the concepts of nation, a new type of nationalism, we tried to examine the development of Anatolia up to the birth of nationalism and 1930s.
