Aerospace Engineering

Turkey has made a significant progress in terms of aerospace and defense industries. The Atılım University Department of Aerospace Engineering opens to students in the Academic Year of 2020-2021, with the aim to train qualified engineers as required in the ever-developing aerospace industry. This department is a field of engineering that focuses on the R&D, design, manufacturing, testing and performance processes of aircraft such as planes, choppers, or rockets; as well as satellites, and other kinds of spacecraft. Located in Ankara where much of the work related to the aerospace studies takes place, our School is to offer common projects and long-term opportunities for internship studies with many companies in the industry. Our academic staff involves faculty members who are experienced in teaching aerospace engineering, as well as experts in the field after having worked in many projects in the defense industry, in addition to offering consulting. Backed with our state-of-the-art laboratories, our curriculum is to offer students a chance to acquire the skills and know-hows to advance Turkey in the sector. We aim to implement a hands-on approach in education by training our students with our aircraft in our hangar at Esenboğa Airport. We aim to provide them with a practical training, and a constant opportunity to touch, feel, and experience the aircraft, from the first year. Our focus is to have students experience the process of R&D, from the designing stage to prototype manufacturing. Our course content, devised to match the current needs of the sector, shall make it possible for our students to find employment in their fields of competence and interest.
Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance

The Atılım University Department of Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance has been offering Civil Aviation education in English since 2012. In an effort to provide the best level of education, ATILIM UNIVERSITY demonstrated its merit as a role model in Civil Aviation Education last year by being granted a SHY 147 certificate with the status of “Approved Aircraft Maintenance Training Institution” by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. The SHY 147 is a certificate for Approved Aircraft Maintenance Training Institutions. It is granted to institutions where training programs have undergone inspection, and the quality of the education offered has been approved by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. With our Civil Aviation Training Center at Esenboğa Airport (our hangar), and the two Cessna-337 planes with double piston engines both of which are fully operational, as well our Beechcraft C90 Kingait plaine with double Turboprop engines, Atılım University is an institution to offer hands-on technical training in civil aviation, and one that strives to take the education it offers to the extremes in terms of technology. The Atılım university Graduate School Department of Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance is a fully-equipped civil aviation school to complement its theoretical education with hands-on training using planes of various kinds. Even before their graduation, most of our students are hired in Turkey’s most prestigious institutions in such a rapidly-developing sector. The Atılım University School of Architecture was founded in 2009. As for the number of students, our School is a medium-sized one, as is the case with many others in Europe. As a profession the expectation for which is to deal with people, society and environment in many aspects, architecture requires a similarly sophisticated education. In the Undergraduate Program at the Department of Architecture, we are working to establish such sophistication within the balance of theory and practice. Following the Integrated Doctorate Program that opened in 2010 for undergraduate and graduate alumni, the Thesis and Project Programs at Graduate Levels were opened in 2018. The self-evaluation studies of the Department that are run in coordination with the intra-evaluation and strategy studies of Atılım University are performed in relation to the external evaluations by the Architectural Accrediting Board (MİAK). The Department of Architecture is a member of the “European Association for Architectural Education” (EAAE).
Audiology
Automotive Engineering

Having started education in 2009, the Atılım university Department of Automotive Engineering offers an academic environment at international standards, with its education in English, a contemporary curriculum and ever-better and ever-developing laboratory opportunities. In addition to undergraduate degree education, the graduate program of multi-disciplinary mechanical engineering offers the opportunity for graduate and doctorate degree education automotive engineering. The Atılım University Automotive Engineering has been selected to be the best in Turkey in 2020 in the field of automotive engineering with studies in energy efficiency, motor performance, active/ passive automotive security and vehicle dynamics conducted in the already-existing laboratories of its own. Our graduates are employed at large-scale companies that operate in Turkey, such as Isuzu, Ford Otosan, Hattat, Honda, Hyundai, Karsan, Man, Mercedes-Benz, Otokar, Renault, Temsa, Tofaş, Toyota, Türk Traktör, Volkswagen (to start operation in 2020). In addition, our graduates have been hired at institutions such as Tübitak, Tai, Aselsan, FNSS, Ministry of National Defence, Tcdd etc. or at supplier industries in Turkey. Due to the recent evolution undergone by the automotive industry with the development of electric, hybrid and autonomous vehicle technologies, automotive engineering has gained popularity, and is becoming ever more exhilarating. In addition to combustion engine technologies, our students also gain expertise in these fields. The “Formula Student Car” contest organized since 2011 by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) where our Department ranked third globally in 2016 is one of the top projects conducted by our department where we value hands-on training. Our curriculum, updated in 2020, focuses on computer calculation and simulation courses, as well as laboratory practice, catered to modern automotive technologies.
Aviation Management

The Department of Aviation Management opened in 2011 under the Atılım University Graduate School of Civil Aviation. The department curriculum encompasses management and aviation, and education is offered in English as the language of global aviation. Aviation is a sector with a potential for growth globally by around five percent each year, and nationally by ten percent or more, exceeding the worldwide averages. The Department of Aviation Management trains individuals equipped to work in aviation at public institutions, airlines, ground operation institutions, terminal services and general aviation organizations. Our department offers an opportunity for students to study abroad for a semester under our Erasmus+ contracts, and a chance to familiarize themselves with the sector via summer internship programs organized twice throughout their period of study. In addition, some of the aviation courses are presented at relevant institutions (e.g. Terminal operations).
Avionics
The department of Avionics aims to train qualified technicians of electrics-electronics as required for maintenance, repairs and renewal procedures in the national and international sector of civil aviation. The department trains students in how to perform maintenance and repairs on electrical and electronic equipment of aircrafts using contemporary methods and techniques that fit the provisioned rules. The department holds a SHY147 certificate. Therefore, the curriculum of education meets that for technician training provisioned by the European Aviation Safety Agency, in addition to subjects of basic electricity and electronics. The education is provided in English as the language for aviation. An Avionics Laboratory, an Aircraft Communication and Navigation Laboratory, an Aircraft Electrical Systems Laboratory and a Cockpit Instrumentation Laboratory are available at the İncek campus of our University. The department also provides in-house training with actual aircrafts at the training hangar at the Esenboğa Airport.

We are a department that has been active for 22 years with the goal to determine the structural changes in economy and the problems of general business administration, to develop problem solving skills and to devise modelling techniques that fit our aims. Among our cornerstones are to graduate more students into administrative positions of our institutions, to help them realize their inner potential to be go-getters, to prepare them for the entrance exams for high-tier, well-respected public positions, and to help them participate graduate and doctorate degree programs at ease, nationally or internationally. In this regard, our course curriculum is constantly subject to updates. In addition, we do all in our power to graduate students that stand out, with double-major program opportunities. We make an effort to aid our students in kick-starting their professional life after completing a period of one semester at Private - Public institutions within the framework of our Cooperative Education Program.

Chemical Engineering

Established in 2010, and aiming to train the students with the capacity to meet the demands of the 21st Century, the Chemical Engineering Department provides a sound chemistry background through intense coursework and laboratory practices, along with fundamental courses such as Physics and Mathematics within the freshman and sophomore years, following preparatory English courses.In the final two years of the program, engineering courses are offered with laboratory practice and state-of-the-art simulation programs, combining theory with practice.

Civil Engineering

The Atılım University Department of Civil Engineering was founded in 2000 as a pioneer for the Departments of Civil Engineering among the foundation schools of Ankara. It offers education in English. The Department of Civil Engineering has an academic staff qualified in all areas of the education offered. In addition to a high level of academic learning that benefits from learning opportunities through practice at its seven laboratories, the Department also offers a Cooperative Education program conducted in cooperation with renowned organizations in the construction sector. Accredited by MÜDEK (Association of Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) (in 2018), our Department has been granted the longest period of accreditation to ever achieve through the association (six years). The accreditation is recognized by ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education), and other international accreditation boards.
Computer Engineering

The Atılım University Department of Computer Engineering was founded in 1998. The department curriculum is prepared in a way that meets the demands for knowledge and skills after graduation, and is subject to periodical reviews and updates in line with international standards. Our Department offers education in many fields of expertise, such as software development, hardware systems, data structures, computer networks, artificial intelligence, machine learning, image processing, natural language processing, object based design, information security, and cloud computing. The education offered by our department is based on practical approaches, with modern laboratories, projects and internship programs. The undergraduate program at our department was accredited in 2014 by the Association of Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) and was granted the label EUR-ACE, valid through Europe. In addition to the undergraduate program, our department offers thesis or non-thesis graduate degree programs (MS).
Department of Architecture

Architecture Integrated PhD Program, which was initiated in the year 2012 at the Graduate School of Natural & Applied Sciences, runs graduate education and research studies leading to PhD degree for the students bearing bachelor and master degrees. The offical educational language of the Program is Turkish. The Program is available for applications by graduates from different disciplines (architecture; urban design; city and regional planning; industrial design; interior design; landscape design) who wish to be researcher or academician in any of the areas of specialization in architecture specified by IMP. Architecture Master’s Programs (Thesis-Oriented & Project-Oriented) were started in the year 2018. The official educational languages of these Programs are Turkish and English. These programs are available for applications by canditates who have undergraduate degrees in architecture.
Department of Basic English (Prep School)
Atilim University Department of Basic English, have the goal to turn each of you into a member of world citizens highly capable in their field of study. In this way, we also would like to add to the cumulative knowledge level in the world and contribute to the development of our own country. Aware of our responsibilities towards this goal, we constantly update our language teaching approaches and applications. In this process, we utilize the benefits of the technology and we accommodate a tablet-based language teaching model in our classes.
Department of Business
In parallel to our vision and mission statements, we offer graduate programs in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Management fields, either in Turkish or English as medium of instruction. Programs in English appeal to foreign students as well as Turkish ones for that we offer education through the latest that science has reached. We also offer online Master’s programs to students who cannot attend to our full-time programs.
Department of Chemical Engineering
Research subjects based on Chemical Engineering origin covers applied and computational studies or both. Research studies under this origin focus mainly on the areas; clean energy production, catalytic combustion artificial neural networks, computational chemistry, electrochemistry, fuel cells and renewable energy. Chemistry-based group works on the areas such as biotechnology nanotechnology fuel cells and solar energy, drug design and development, polymer chemistry, dye and stain chemistry. In addition, the studies conducted in the graduate program also focuses on engineering applications and calculations of these fields.
