The numismatic data derived from the Becin coin hoard, closing under sultan Ahmed (1603-1617) greatly challenges this view. Metal analysis has shown that only the overall weights of the coins were reduced; the fineness of silver remained unchanged at least until the 1610s.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessOttoman Monetary HistoryOttoman Economic HistoryOttoman CoinageBecinDebasementThe Becin Coin Hoard and Ottoman Monetary History in the Late 16th/Early 17th CenturyArticleQ256653671WOS:000329020300003
