Three hundred Turkish University Students were given System Justification Scale, Political Ideology and Religiosity Scale. They also supplied their demographic information. Muslim Religious Orientation Scale was also included into the questionnaire in order to identify those who have extrinsic, intrinsic, quest and fundamentalist orientation. It was found that masculinity, having a conservative political ideology, religious fundamentalism and having a low SES will lead to more individuals having system-justifying thoughts. These findings were discussed in the light of the relevant literature. (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd. VE information system deals with highly dynamic information from heterogeneous data sources. In order to manage and store dynamic VE information in the database, an ontology based VE model has been developed. To select winner enterprises in VE, a Multi Agent System (MAS) has been developed. Communication and data transition among agents and system entities are based on defined rules in VE ontology model. One of the most important contributions of agents in VE system is in partner selection step of VE formation phase. In this step several agents with different goals and strategies are collaborating and competing each other to win the negotiation procedure or maximize the profit for their assigned enterprise. Different strategies are developed for the agents depending on their appetite for winning the auction against maximizing the profit. Several simulations were run and the results are stored. These results are fed into a neural network in order to predict which enterprise will win the auction and what will be the profit margin. The motivation is to provide a forecasting agent for the customers about the outcomes of the auctions so that they can plan ahead and take the necessary action. Early results indicate such simulated multi-agent VE formations can be used in real systems. The authors of the paper characterize the types of communication behaviors that occur when student teams are engaged in a software development project. The authors present findings from a one-semester study that examined factors contributing to successful distributed programming interactions among students enrolled at the University of Atilim (Turkey), Universidad Tecnologica de Panama, University of North Texas, and Middlesex University (UK). Using content and cluster analyses techniques, we identified distinct patterns of collaboration and examined how these patterns were associated with task, culture, GPA, and performance of collaborative teams. Our results suggest that communication patterns among global software learners may be related to task type, culture and GPA. Small satellites (between 1 and 15 kg) show great promise as a low-cost option both in production and launching. In this work, attitude control problem for a cubesat is examined. A physical testbed is designed for simulation and testing in a single axis. Cubesat reaction wheel and the testbed are integrated, and fuzzy logic control software in Arduino Mega microprocessor environment is developed. The cubesat floor at the same axis of reaction wheel is tested and real-time measurement data are obtained. Also, it is beneficial to examine how we can use the well-established standards of SOA for the designing of SoIS. Works of literature and art enable individuals to be aware of their personalities and individual differences and to question life and existence, the main data in the field of psychology as well. This study is based on the results of a case study in which over 30 students enrolled in a top-ranked online and formal MBA program. Thus, the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) has been used for choosing the program. Due to the inability of AHP to deal with the impression and subjectiveness in the pair-wise comparison process, the FAHP has been used. The result of the research is interesting since neither an online nor a formal education program is preferred; a hybrid one has been developed. When those senses are integrated with the eyesight, we may get all the necessary information about the environment. In terms of human-computer-interaction, the eyesight information is provided by visual displays. On the other hand, touch and feel senses are provided by means of special devices called "haptic" devices. Haptic devices are used in many fields such as computer-aided design, distance-surgery operations, medical simulation environments, training simulators for both military and medical applications, etc. Besides the touch and sense feelings haptic devices also provide force-feedbacks, which allows designing a realistic environment in virtual reality applications. Haptic devices can be categorized into three classes: tactile devices, kinesthetic devices and hybrid devices. Tactile devices simulate skin to create contact sensations. Kinesthetic devices apply forces to guide or inhibit body movement, and hybrid devices attempt to combine tactile and kinesthetic feedback. Among these kinesthetic devices exerts controlled forces on the human body, and it is the most suitable type for the applications such as surgical simulations. The education environments that require skill-based improvements, the touch and feel senses are very important. In some cases providing such educational environment is very expensive, risky and may also consist of some ethical issues. For example, surgical education is one of these fields. The traditional education is provided in operating room on real patients. This type of education is very expensive, requires long time periods, and does not allow any error-and-try type of experiences. It is stressfully for both the educators and the learners. Additionally there are several ethical considerations. Simulation environments supported by such haptic user interfaces provide an alternative and safer educational alternative. There are several studies showing some evidences of educational benefits of this type of education (Tsuda et al 2009; Sutherland et al 2006). Similarly, this technology can also be successfully integrated to the physical rehabilitation process of some diseases requiring motor skill improvements (Kampiopiotis & Theodorakou, 2003). Hence, today simulation environments are providing several opportunities for creating low cost and more effective training and educational environment. Today, combining three dimensional (3D) simulation environments with these haptic interfaces is an important feature for advancing current human-computer interaction. On the other hand haptic devices do not provide a full simulation environment for the interaction and it is necessary to enhance the environment by software environments. Game engines provide high flexibility to create 3-D simulation environments. Unity3D is one of the tools that provides a game engine and physics engine for creating better 3D simulation environments. In the literature there are many studies combining these two technologies to create several educational and training environments. However, in the literature, there are not many researches showing how these two technologies can be integrated to create simulation environment by providing haptic interfaces as well. There are several issues that need to be handled for creating such integration. First of all the haptic devices control libraries need to be integrated to the game engine. Second, the game engine simulation representations and real-time interaction features need to be coordinately represented by the haptic device degree of freedom and force-feedback speed and features. In this study, the integration architecture of Unity 3D game engine and the PHANToM Haptic device for creating a surgical education simulation environment is provided. The methods used for building this integration and handling the synchronization problems are also described. The algorithms developed for creating a better synchronization and user feedback such as providing a smooth feeling and force feedback for the haptic interaction are also provided. Many companies and public administration try to identify and modify their Lifelong Learning strategies for their sustainability. The purpose of this Lifelong Learning case study is underlying the importance of the phenomena in the Turkish public sector. Business process management was used as a tool for designing and improving the operations in the center and rural area offices of Social Security Institution. The case study was held by an expert of the institution in terms of Lifelong Learning. The improved and managed business processes was clarified in the study in detail. The study states that if there were not Lifelong Learning phenomena in action there would not be any improvement and evaluation of this improvement in the system. (C) 2013 The Authors.
