Conference Object Citation - WoS: 16KINSHIPGAN: SYNTHESIZING OF KINSHIP FACES FROM FAMILY PHOTOS BY REGULARIZING A DEEP FACE NETWORK(Ieee, 2018) Ozkan, Savas; Ozkan, AkinIn this paper, we propose a kinship generator network that can synthesize a possible child face by analyzing his/her parent's photo. For this purpose, we focus on to handle the scarcity of kinship datasets throughout the paper by proposing novel solutions in particular. To extract robust features, we integrate a pre-trained face model to the kinship face generator. Moreover, the generator network is regularized with an additional face dataset and adversarial loss to decrease the overfitting of the limited samples. Lastly, we adapt cycle-domain transformation to attain a more stable results. Experiments are conducted on Families in the Wild (FIW) dataset. The experimental results show that the contributions presented in the paper provide important performance improvements compared to the baseline architecture and our proposed method yields promising perceptual results.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Changing Our Educational Institutions: Transition From Traditional To E-Learning Programs(Ieee, 2004) Yazici, A; Karakaya, Z; Dalgarno, B; Altas, IIn this. paper we examine basic elements of e-Learning, the features of the e-Learning model under implementation at Atilim University and the expected impact of the model on the organization of the institution. The design procedure and validation of OFDM system and feedforward linearizer have been carried out by Agilent-ADS. In order to evaluate the performance of the feedforward linearizer, sweeping back-off power has been used. Adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) levels versus back-off power results are investigated to evaluate the performance of the linearization technique. Efficiency improvement is figured out by investigating the power added efficiency (PAE) versus back-off power. Simulation results have been shown that ACPR improvements were acceptable for OFDM system when the PA is utilized together with feedforward linearizer.Conference Object Microstrip Antennas For WiMAX Applications(Ieee, 2015) Demirci, Tugkan; Caliskan, Fatma; Aydin, ElifIn this paper, four different antenna types have been designed to be used for WiMAX applications. Bulent; Filci, TayfunSensorless vector control is preferred in some applications, because there is no need for speed or position sensor. However, by their very nature, they are susceptible to making position error in rotor position estimation. As a consequence the performance of motor drives employing this technology is lower than those which employ sensors. This paper presents a new approach which identifies and uses rotor slot harmonic current component in the stator current to identify rotor position. The time taken by the algorithm used is short enough to be embedded within the vector control algorithm. The essence of the algorithm is treating the current component due to rotor slot harmonics as an amplitude modulated signal on the fundamental current component. The magnitude of this current component is identified via demodulation. Using this information rotor position and speed can be determined. This approach is tested on a commercial induction motor and some results are presented which illustrate that rotor position can be successfully determined.Conference Object The Usability Study for the Personal Health Record Systems(Ieee, 2015) Gokay, Gonca; Ercil, Yavuz; Tokdemir, Gul; Cagiltay, Nergiz; Aykac, Y. EvrenWith the emergence of new technologies, there is an increasing number of studies to improve healthcare delivery quality and health services. The studies have shown that the focus should be on integrated, sharable and personalized healthcare solutions which requires usage of patient data as much as possible for fast and correct diagnosis and care. Hence, data related to people when they are healthy and when they are sick become very critical for which many projects have been initiated to increase awareness of people about the importance of data collection all over the world and in our country as well. This requires more active role of the citizens in tracking their healthcare data. In this study, Microsoft Health Vault system that is used for storage of personal health records, has been analyzed in terms of its usability characteristics and the results have been discussed.Conference Object Design, Analysis and Manufacturing of Dielectric Rod Added Conical Rom Antennas(Ieee, 2016) Avcioglu, Esra; Özaslan, Alper; Caliskan, FatmaIn this study, ANSYS HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) software had been used. By using this software, dielectric rod added conical horn antennas with various shapes and dimensions had been designed and analyzed. 5 (five) distinct antennas designed and their gains and return losses had been observed to evaluate the effects of the changes. Software modeling is a commonly used approach in the embedded software industry to manage complexity of these phases. The modeling approaches vary since the characteristics of modeling such as its purpose, the medium type used, the lifecycle phase used, differ among systems and industrial sectors. Our previous research identified and defined the modeling approach patterns in embedded software development projects based on quantitative data. In this paper, to validate and improve the pre-investigated pattern set, we present a series of semi-structured interviews over eight months with 53 embedded software professionals across a variety of target industrial sectors and roles. With the help of these interviews, the different modeling approach patterns in embedded software development were better understood and the hidden patterns not evident in the previous study were identified along with a documentation of personalized modeling experiences.Conference Object An Rfid Based Location Finding and Tracking With Guidance(Ieee, 2008) Oktem, Rusen; Aydin, Elif Uray; Cagiltay, Nergiz ErcilThis paper tackles an RFID based location finding and tracking system. The system is an integral part of a navigation aid being developed for guiding visually disabled people in a store. The aid is composed of a portable hardware interface unit, a standalone RFID unit, and a central processing unit. The units interact via wireless communication to locate the position of the user in a known indoor environment and tracking his/her movement. An active RFID tag helps to estimate the location of a user and the user is guided to follow a route accordingly, via a tactile compass. The system uses RF signal strengths and is based on Bayes Decision Theory. Initial simulation results with the system prove promising for location finding and tracking, especially when the tracked person is guided by a system.Conference Object Optimization of modeling parameters of of a direct dimethyl ether fuel cell (DDMEFC)(Ieee, 2019) Alpaydin, Guvenc Umur; Colpan, C. Ozgur; Devrim, YilserDirect alcohol fuel cells are one of the suitable candidates for sustainable power generation in portable applications. Among the different alcohol types that can be used in these fuel cells, DME, which is almost non-toxic at room temperature and easy to liquefy, and has a molecular structure similar to methanol, is one of the suitable options. For this reason, many studies have been carried out to develop direct dimethyl ether fuel cell (DDMEFC). Mathematical modeling studies also play an important role in the development of DDMEFC since they enable the understanding of the performance of the fuel cells more thoroughly. In this study, a model has been developed by using the principles of conservation chemical species and electrochemistry. A modeling study was performed using MATLAB. The values of some modeling parameters were estimated using the genetic algorithm optimization technique.
