Law
(2003)
Started in 2003 with 21 students, the Atılım University School of Law has so far graduated over 1700 students, and currently offers education for more than 1300 students. With the aim stressed by our Founding Dean Prof. Dr. Nami Çağan, we grant students with the background that allows them to access and evaluate information, rather than overloading them with information dumps during our education and training in the field of law. With a curriculum prepared with this approach and our mission in mind, we aim to graduate our students as actual legal experts who have internalized ethical rules, who are knowledgeable in terms of rules and institutions; and who are cultured, versatile, broad-visioned and inquisitive. In addition to basic courses in law conducted by our academic staff as pioneers of their field with respect to these principles, elective courses are available pursuant to current events such as those in mediation for legal disagreements, law and women, sports law, informatics law, media law and legal English; as well as law clinics to offer effective and interactive education. In addition, graduate and doctorate degree programs, alongside certificate programs such as those to train experts, peace-makers, mediators, and trustees in composition, are underway. A member of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA), our School offers international relations and events, the Erasmus+ program, national and international fictional court contests, law and art days prepared by our student networks, or career forums in law to collaborate in the personal development of our students.

(2010)
Established in 2010, and aiming to train the students with the capacity to meet the demands of the 21st Century, the Chemical Engineering Department provides a sound chemistry background through intense coursework and laboratory practices, along with fundamental courses such as Physics and Mathematics within the freshman and sophomore years, following preparatory English courses. In the final two years of the program, engineering courses are offered with laboratory practice and state-of-the-art simulation programs, combining theory with practice.

Abstract

In this study, the applicability of nanofiltration (NF) membranes as a pretreatment prior to reverse osmosis (RO) in seawater desalination was investigated. The membranes used were NF270 and NF90 as the NF membranes, while the brackish water (BW) RO membrane BW30 was used as the RO membrane. In desalination tests, permeates of the NF membranes were collected and used as the feed to the BW30 membrane. The calculated permeate fluxes were 6.7 L/h.m2, 11.3 L/h.m2, 24.3 L/h.m2, and 36.6 L/h.m2 for single BW30-35 bar, NF270-30 bar + BW30-35 bar, NF90-30 bar + BW30-25 bar and NF90-30 BW30-35 bar, respectively. The calculated water recovery and rejected salt values were 51.6%, 41.4%, 24.8%, 15.4% and 98.2%, 98.2%, 96.0%, 91.0% for NF90-30 bar + BW30-35 bar, NF90-30 bar + BW30-25 bar, NF270-30 bar + BW30-35 bar and single BW30-35 bar, respectively. The qualities of the product waters of integrated systems (NF+BWRO) and the single BWRO system were also investigated. Boron rejection was fairly well with average boron rejections of 59.3% and 60.2% by NF90-30 bar + BW30-25 bar and NF90-30 bar + BW30-35 bar combinations, respectively while single BW30-35 bar gave an average rejection of 49.6%. The results obtained showed that the quality of product water obtained using single BWRO did not comply with the irrigation standards, while the integrated systems provided total compliance to irrigation standards with the exception of boron. © 2020 MPRL.
