Role of Management Control and Trust Formation in Supply Network Collaboration

Abstract

Collaboration among partners is a key concept with its complex aspects, and close interaction with performance and risk management in supply networks (SNs). Management control (MC) and trust formation stand out as two critical factors that affect the development of collaboration mechanisms among SN partners and exhibit a character, which is relatively difficult to quantify and model. This study provides a comprehensive literature review on the relationship of 'trust', 'management control' and 'collaboration' concepts within SN context. On the basis of a taxonomy study of relevant extant literature, complex causal relationships and dependencies among these constructs are examined; main methodologies/approaches followed in the related literature are discussed. This study intends to provide a sound base for further researches in the field with this comprehensive taxonomy, which treats multiple constructs simultaneously.
