Bulgular, Catherine'in aksine Heathcliff ve Jane'in, doğal dünyaya yakın kalarak hayatta kalmayı başardıklarını göstermektedir. Catherine ise doğal yaşamdan uzaklaşıp kültürel yaşama yönelmeyi tercih etmesinin ardından yalnızlıkla cezalandırılmaktadır.
The ecocritical approach is one of the theories that is concerned with tracing ecological reflections in literature. Many writers have been concerned with representing nature's role in their narratives. For example, Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre are two novels that represent the role of nature in human life by showing how their protagonists are influenced by their relationships with nature. This thesis is concerned with shedding light on the perspectives of the ecological representations in both novels. Deploying the ecological lens and drawing on Plumwood's concepts of ecological interconnection, ecological integration, and ecological self, the study aims to examine the humannature relationships that provide an interpretation of the characters' development in the narratives. Moreover, the study has brought to light the perspectives on the culture/nature conflict that emerge from progressive or advanced cultural life. The thesis shows that, unlike Catherine, Heathcliff and Jane seem to survive as they are close to the natural world; however, Catherine is doomed to live in solitude after moving away from nature and preferring cultural life.
