person.biographyDoruk Dogu is an Yardımcı Doçent of the Department of Metallurgical and materials Engineering at Atilim University. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University (METU). After M.S., he pursued his Ph.D. in the Interdisciplinary Micro and Nanotechnology Graduate Program at METU. During his M.S. and a part of his Ph.D. studies, he worked as a Teaching Assistant at METU. Halfway through the Ph.D., Doruk Doğu started working at Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Laboratory of Vestel Defence Industry as a Specialist R&D Engineer. At Vestel, he was involved in and coordinated several projects related to the Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, reformers for liquid and gaseous fuels, catalysts for steam reforming and partial oxidation reactions, and also designed and built power generation units that utilize Solid Oxide Fuel Cells. From August 2013 to July 2017, Dr. Doruk Doğu worked at The Ohio State University, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department as a Post-doctoral Research Scholar. At OSU, he led two research teams and worked on multiple projects on Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), solid electrolyte reactors, PEM fuel cells and steam reforming of hazardous volatile organic compounds. He received “Outstanding Post-Doc Award for Research Excellence” award two times from The Ohio State University and with his group he also received multiple safety management awards. In August 2017, he started working at the Dalhousie University, Department of Process Engineering and Applied Science as a Postdoctoral Fellow. He managed and coordinated of the research group and the laboratory as well as conducted research on two different projects on developing a solid fluorine storage reservoir and improving the structural properties of graphite anode powders for Li-ion batteries. Dr. Doğu also served as a part-time Yardımcı Doçent at Dalhousie University and taught multiple graduate and undergraduate courses. Dr. Doruk Doğu moved back to Turkey in 2019 to join Atilim University. His research proposal on “Electrocatalytic Ammonia Production Using Nitride Conducting Electrolytes” for TUBITAK 2232 (International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers) Program has been funded and completed in November 2022. He is currently conducting research on Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, heterogeneous catalysis and electrocatalysis areas with collaborations from multiple universities and industry.
