    Borsa İstanbul'da Sürdürülebilirlik: Sürdürülebilirlik Üzerine Karşılaştırmalı Bir Analiz

    BİST Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksi'nin diğer pay endeksleriyle arasında bir fark olup olmadığı analiz edilmiştir. Bu analiz için Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksi ile BİST 100 Endeksi karşılaştırılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda BİST Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksi ile BİST 100 Endeksi arasında endeks fiyatları açısından bir fark olmadığı ve BİST Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksi'nin günlük fiyatlarının BİST 100 Endeksi fiyatlarına göre daha yüksek bir düzeyde gerçekleştiği tespit edilmiştir.     Bu tez, Birinci Dünya Savaşı'nın etkilerini Virginia Woolf'un Mrs. Dalloway ve To the Lighthouse adlı eserlerinde modernizm, bilinç akışı anlatım tekniği ve Albert Einstein'ın Görelilik Teorisi ışığında incelemektedir. To the Lighthouse eserinde James Ramsay'in 'Hiçbir şey yalnızca tek bir şey değildi' (138) ifadesi, Virginia Woolf'un tüm eserlerindeki modernist gerçeklik anlayışını oluşturmaktadır. Bu çok katmanlı gerçeklik ve görelilik düşüncesi, Woolf'un anlatım teknikleri ve temaları aracılığıyla yansıtılmaktadır. Hem Mrs. Dalloway hem de To the Lighthouse, savaşın bir sonucu olarak kimlik, zaman ve mekân ile ilgili geleneksel kesinliklerin yıkıldığı, dönüşmüş bir dünyayı tasvir etmektedir. Tezin amacı, nasıl Virginia Woolf'un bilinç akışı tekniği kullandığı ve Albert Einstein'ın Görelilik Teorisi'nin savaş sonrası dönemde gerçekliğin parçalanmış ve öznel doğasının keşfini analiz etmektir.

    Virginia Woolf'un Bayan Dalloway ve Deniz Feneri Eserlerinde Büyük Savaşın Yankıları

    The thesis examines the impacts of the Great War in Mrs. Dalloway and To the Lighthouse within the framework of modernist aesthetics, stream of consciousness narrative techniques and Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity. By examining how Woolf's representation of fragmented, multi-faceted reality reflects devastating effects of the war, this study presents a different perspective to Woolf's creative process, incorporating literature and science. The importance of the study lies in the interdisciplinary approach illustrated through an analysis of Woolf's relationship with Modernism as a result of the war and her portrayal of subjective reality with her innovative techniques. The originality of this study is rooted in its application of Einstein's Theory of Relativity to Woolf's narration, examining her portrayal of identity, memory and human nature with an emphasis on relativity of time and space, as exemplified by James Ramsay's assertion that 'Nothing was simple one thing' (Woolf, 1994:138) in To the Lighthouse. These novels exemplify Woolf's ability to portray individual lives with broader cultural and philosophical themes, making her a cornerstone of modernist literature.

    The Effect of Exercise Intensity on Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury and Myokine Profile in Diabetic Cardiomyopathy

    Diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterised by hyperglycaemia. The diabetic heart becomes more susceptible to ischemic injury. Although exercise induces a cardioprotective phenotype, the determination of accurate protocol is crucial. We compared two different exercise intensities in the diabetes model and evaluated the role of myokines in exercise-induced cardioprotection. Male, adult, Wistar albino rats were used (n = 20 each). First, animals were divided into two groups: Non-Diabetic (ND), Diabetic (DM); then groups were further divided into subgroups: Sedentary (S), Training-1 (T1 =10 m/min, 00 inclination), and Training-2 (T2 = 20 m/min, 100 inclination). Diabetes was induced by streptozotocin (60 mg/kg; i.p.). Animals exercised on a treadmill 5 days/a week for 6 weeks. Then, hearts were attached to the Langendorff apparatus and baseline functional parameters were measured. After 30'/120'I/R protocol, infarct size was evaluated with tetrazolium chloride staining. Interleukin-6, FNDC5, and myonectin levels were measured both in the soleus and the left ventricle. We observed cardiac hypertrophy and impaired baseline LV function in diabetes. Infarct size was significantly larger in diabetics and only T1 decreased the infarct size whereas T2 further aggravated it. Moreover, post-ischemic recovery was worst in diabetic-T2 group. Irisin and myonectin levels were decreased in the soleus muscle of diabetic animals. T1 increased the myonectin levels in the left ventricle of non-diabetics, and this effect was blunted in diabetic-T1 animals. As a conclusion, light-intensity exercise is a better approach to prevent ischemic damage in diabetes besides moderate intensity may be hazardous in diabetic population.
